WHAT WE LEARNED THIS WEEK

We learned that:

Anything less than another NBA title is simply unacceptable to Laker fans.

At the tender age of 86, Dick Van Dyke, is a newlywed again.

Bruce Springsteen has “soul”.

Eddie Murphy’s movie cold streak continues.

Cartoonists are having a field day with Rush Limbaugh and Newt Gingrich.

Even Peyton Manning isn’t immune to the sometimes cold-hearted business ways of the NFL.

Head coach Mike Shanahan and the Redskins are going all in on Baylor QB and Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III aka RG3 in this year’s NFL draft.

House Speaker John Boehner is having a bad time these days trying to control his party.

In the case of Coolio and his son Grtis  (what the hell kind of name is that), the apple remained on the tree.

Michael Jackson remains, no pun intended, a hot ticket even in death.

Mitt Romney will say damn near anything while trying to win the GOP nomination and I mean anything.

New Jersey Governor Chris Christie really is an out-of-control a**hole.

Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul are now running out of spite.

No one really knows what goes on behind closed doors.

Pat Robertson says the darndest things when you least expect him to.

President Obama is coming out swinging in his quest for re-election: Pointing at Republicans, Obama said: “They think you have amnesia. They think you’ve forgotten how we got into this [economic] mess.”

Putting pressure on someone’s advertisers, in this case, Rush Limbaugh’s, can make a difference.

Republicans will never, ever give this president any credit when it comes the nation’s improving economy: House Speaker John Boehner: “Today’s report provides some encouragement for millions of families and small businesses who continue to struggle in this economy, but unemployment remains far too high.”; House Majority Leader Eric Cantor: “We know that jobs aren’t created by Washington.”; “Three and half years of 8-plus percent unemployment, I mean, that’s not a good position for anybody to be,” Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum told CNN’s John King Friday afternoon, “and this is a recovery that has been anemic by any standard.”; “How many months ago was it, 37 months ago, [President Obama] told us that if he could borrow $787 billion, almost a trillion dollars, he would keep unemployment below 8 percent. It has not been below 8 percent since. This president has not succeeded, this president has failed – and that’s the reason we’re going to get rid of him in 2012.”37 months ago, [President Obama] told us that if he could borrow $787 billion, almost a trillion dollars, he would keep unemployment below 8 percent. Sarah Palin, bless her Alaskan soul, simply won’t go away.

Some people, really, really love the Olive Garden.
