Random Thoughts

When politicians like Michelle Bachmann, John Boehner and Sarah Palin stand before virtually all-white crowds and say things like “We need to take back our country”, that’s playing to racist attitudes.

The presence of a thoughtful, competent black man named Barack Hussein Obama at the helm of the world’s most powerful nation seems to frighten the GOP so much that they are willing to run on the failed policies of George W. Bush in an attempt to regain control of Congress this fall.

One thing that President Obama doesn’t get nearly enough credit for is his willingness to meet and talk with those who have opposing views. One of the most shameful points in George W. Bush’s presidency, among many, was his refusal to meet with Cindy Sheehan, the mother of a soldier killed in Iran, because she opposed the war.

Say what you will about Republicans in Congress, and God knows I despise them with every ounce of my being,  you have to give them credit for party discipline in opposing the president. This is something Democrats could and should definitely learn from.

I wonder how different things would be in Arizona right now had Janet Napolitano remained governor instead of becoming Homeland Secretary in the Obama Cabinet.

Minnesota’s nut-job of a representative, Michelle Bachmann, said last week that if the GOP regains control of the House in the fall, “I think all we should do is issue subpoenas and have one hearing after another and expose all the nonsense that has gone on” and House Minority Leader John “The Orange Undertaker” Boehner, who would become Speaker, added that he would immediately repeal health care reform as it “not only ruined the best health care system in the world, it’ll bankrupt the country.”Well, I sure hope Democrats heard them loud and clear and start playing “tit-for-tat” and reminding voters what life under Speaker Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell would be like.

What in God’s name has Sylvester Stallone done to his face?

I recently saw a TMZ story on Tracy Morgan and he was walking down the street in NYC with his and all I could think was, damn, Tracy Morgan has a posse?

Can anyone tell me what it is that Michael Lohan does for a living or why Jersey Shore is a hit TV show?

To those sportswriters who are bemoaning a Shaq-less NBA if he doesn’t sign with a team soon, I have this to say: there was an NBA before Shaquille O’Neal and there will be one after him.

Fact That Might Interest Only Me – O’Neal is the last active NBA player to have appeared on the Arsenio Hall Show.

While you haven’t been paying attention, the Dodgers first baseman James Loney has very quietly become one of the best at the position in the National League.

Sorry, I was reminiscing about the “Troop Era”.
